2007 ENERGY TOUR: Day 19 July 13, 2007

2007 Energy Tour

Today we spent the day in New York City. We saw the Statue of Liberty (from the shore, the line to take the ferry out was about 4 hours long), we walked down to Wall Street to see the New York Stock Exchange and the Washington Monument. We visited the beautiful Trinity Church, Times Square and Grand Central Station. We also went to Ground Zero. We got to ride a train from Connecticut and the Subway in New York City.

Then we headed toward Vermont for Solarfest 2007 this weekend. We continue our search for biodiesel and will need it soon. We will have to wait until tomorrow in Massachusetts. There are several places that sell high blends or B100 there. Most of the places we have found in the Connecticut area are for members only and offer limited hours. We have been doing a lot of travel at night this week so we are looking for a place that sells biodiesel 24 hour a day. We have found low availability of biodiesel in the northeast.

New York City is leading the way in their taxi fleet. Earlier this week Mayor Bloomberg announced that by 2012 the New York City taxi fleet would be fullyhybrid. You can read the full press release at http://www.nyc.gov/html/tlc/html/home/home.shtml. Hopefully other cities will follow this lead and implement similar changes.
