2007 ENERGY TOUR: Day 11 July 5, 2007We left Rockford this morning and started toward Ohio. We had a few setbacks (children that were ill) that detained us a bit, but we drove through the beautiful city of Chicago and finally made it to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, on Lake Michigan. ![]() As we have moved farther east we have noticed a disturbing trend. There are many more biodiesel fueling stations, however the blends are only B2, B5 and the occasional B10 and rarely B20. So while it seems it is more available, the blends are so low as to make it only very slightly better than regular petro-diesel. We will take a 20-mile course break tomorrow (into Michigan) so we can refuel with a higher blend because this is the highest blend we can find within 100 miles. We also intend to do some research about these biodiesel blends to try and understand why they are such a low blend. |
